Pros:
The location is good, price is probably the cheapest in McGill Ghetto, and the noise insulation is very good. You can play music at maximum volume and your neighbors won't hear a thing. Foot steps can be heard time to time, but that's the same in all buildings.

Cons:
The big issue is the building manager. In all honesty, he is not a bad person. As long as you stay respectful to him, he is friendly and nice. That being said, he does not do repairs in a timely manner, and stalks you on the security camera (at the building entrance). This is good in terms of security. However, whenever you invite friends over, he will call you and ask who it is and tell you to not let him/her stay over night. This is completely against the civil codes in Quebec. We tenants have complete right to have guests in the apt we are paying for, and we also have the right to have our own privacy. The building manager also sometimes threatens you by saying something like "if you don't keep the apt clean I'll have to charge you / not pay you back the deposit / talk to the landlord". He knows the laws for sure. It's just that he takes advantage of his tenants assuming we are naive.

extremely unprofessional management
The low rent of the units in this building may be tempting, but ultimately not worth the trouble of dealing with the unprofessional management. The building manager intimidates and stalks tenants which contributes to an extremely tense living environment. Repairs are not done in a timely manner and the condition of the building is passable at best
