The building is located at a wonderful location. However, with Tandel Management, this place is not for living, but a shit hole. The is electroshock for several moth and no-one repairs. Fire often happens. Heat is unreliable, and sometimes cutoff. If you have other options, keep away from them.

I've lived here for a number of years and the building was wonderful when I moved in and for my first few years here. Unfortunately, once it was purchased by Tandel management my experience fell apart terribly. In short, while under Tandel management:

- The heat has gone out for a week every January. My apartment quickly became unlivable. I called the landlord often for updates on the heating situation as I had to stay elsewhere until it was repaired. More than once he told me that the heat had been repaired and I returned home to find it had not been. He also assured me that someone had been to my apartment to bleed the radiators when I had waited home all day and was certain no one had come by. In my personal opinion, he was terribly rude about the situation.

- In the 2 years they've owned it, I've seen someone cleaning the building only 2 times.

- Cleaning/repair staff have changed about 3 times in those 2 years. One set of previous staff members were particularly memorable as they were asking tenants to sign their petition and verify that we had in fact seen them working in the building; they stated that this was because they were having issues getting the management company to pay them for the work they had done. Police came by the building later that week to accompany them while they were evicted.

- Due to the above issues, I sent in my notice of non-renewal of lease to Tandel management company by registered mail as per the Regie's suggested protocol. Their office neglected to sign for the letter. I then had to call the landlord a minimum of 7 times over the following week just to convince him to sign the notice in person. At one point he returned it to me again without a signature and I had to continue calling to have him come back and actually sign it. It should not be this difficult to get a notice signed by both parties.

While I love my apartment itself, my experience with the management and the lack of care in the building has caused me to leave and warn others of my experiences here as well.

The location is great if you are a McGill student. There are many buses, the mount-royal close-by, grocery stores, and obviously McGill. It is not a cheap place but it is still very nice to live in.
I had a leak in my apartment and the landlord took more than three weeks to take care of it. She even blamed me for the leak when it wasn''t even true. She would come into my studio without knocking. Her own apartment smelled like 1000 people were smoking at the sale time and you could smell it from the hallway.
