I was not impressed by the management. They tried to increase the rent over the amount set by the provincial guidelines with less than 3 months notice. The ceiling was leaking and it took the management a significantly long time to fix the problem. My belongings were damaged and the landlord who was present during the repairs left plaster all over the floor and didn't clean it. Cupboards fell off soon after I moved in and the side door to the building has been broken for over a year and has not yet been fixed. It is an old building so I was able to hear everything from other units, even across the hall. Each unit does not have control over the heat so it was often very cold during the winter. There is a small unit air conditioner but it does not reach the bedrooms so it was unbearably hot during the summers. There is one dryer and washing machine for the whole building and each unit is assigned one night of the week to use it. People often take other's times for laundry. As well, you have to go outside and walk around the building to access the laundry - this was not communicated to us when their agent showed the building. As someone who works 9-5, walking outside in the winter when it's dark to do laundry is not ideal. Water from kitchen tap is consistently warm and it took at least 2 minutes to become cold. In the morning, you have to shower early or the water becomes quite cold as other tenants are most likely using shower at same time. When taking a bath in the evening, the water was luke warm. As well, their real estate agent often left all lights and fans on while showing the unit while I was still living there, despite asking her to turn off lights when she left multiple times. I was not impressed by the management or building and have heard similar stories from other tenants living there.
