The landlady and building maintenance man did nothing when it came to repairs. I lived there for three years because moving is such a hassle but not once were repairs completed on time or correctly. Every few months I would have a leak in the kitchen that was always 'fixed' but would create a large puddle in the kitchen when I washed the dishes. The maintenance man's wife is the one who 'cleans' around the building but it's never clean and the carpets and walls look they they haven't been given a decent scrub in over 30 years.
The laundry facilities are abysmal if you ever need to do more than one load of laundry because the machines are old and there are only 5 good washers (+5 dryers) for a 20 floor building. On top of that, the laundry room is only open between 8am and 10pm so it's always crowded and the machines require quarters and loonies which is a pain.
The building boasts the fact that it has a pool and sauna however they are never cleaned and I would not step foot in that pool for a million dollars.
The building was quiet which was nice as a student who was often studying but if you have neighbours who smoke you will be able to smell it every time they do.
My apartment had been renovated so it was a comfortable space (about 325 sq ft - 1.5 studio) even though it did look like the kitchen was done as cheaply as possible so renovation just meant they painted the cabinets. For 675$ between 2014-2016 (rent never increased) it was a steal in the downtown core. However the troubles I went through with the management were not worth that price. Now I pay a little more for a better apartment and much better management.
