Cons:
Landlord is pretty aloof. We signed the lease with the condition that some things would be repaired and it never happened.

The wiring is bad and it caused a few light bulbs to burn out quickly.

The floors are incredibly squeaky and you can hear the neighbours floors squeaking too.

The sound insulation is bad. I can't hear what people are saying but if they talk loud I can hear the low frequencies of their voice like under 200hz Ish think. The front door slams because the thing that makes it close slowly is broken and it is really loud.

THERE ARE MICE!
They were only really present in the fall when it got colder but there were so many :(
in the winter they went away and a few came back in the spring
all the landlord did was buy mousetraps for the tenants.

Depending on which side of the apartment that you are on your window will likely face a brick wall or a neighbours window

The insulation is bad. we payed much more than estimated for heating. Single pane windows

If you run a microwave and something else at the same time the breaker in the kitchen goes out

The hood vent in the kitchen is not great. the light socket for it doesn't work

The layout sucks and there isn't a good place to put a kitchen table

Near the highway, not loud but constant background noise

The train tracks are next to the highway and they shake the apartment

Factory a block away that has trucks going to it all the time that beep when they back up

Things are generally in disrepair


Pros:
2 minutes from grocery store
6 minutes to metro
Cheap, we pay 995?
Good WiFi included for $30
Bathroom is small but honestly not bad. Water pressure is good and the shower head is high enough for tall folks.
Water heater is decent
There are real security cameras
Landlord is inattentive but kicked a tenant out who was just a generally creepy guy who stole from another tenant.
Decent parking. Not too busy.
