Please do not rent from this landlord. He manages multiple buildings in Montreal and still only takes post-dated cheques (illegal in Quebec). He told me he would reimburse me for paint after I noticed the walls were covered in decades of cigarette smoke; he never did. He never sent notice of the lease re-upping (which he legally has to), then tried to get me to blackmail me into paying back rent that I did not owe him. When I mentioned my rights and the Regie, he totally lost it and began swearing, manipulating, threatening and screaming over the phone. He was always rude and not particularly personable but became completely terrifying at the end. He also increased my rent by 20% after I left without changing anything about the place.

About the building: cigarette smoking is permitted (weed is not), so the building usually reeks. It's an old building, so sound travels a lot. Very quiet tenants, for the most part.

Clean, quiet, maintenance always taken care of, most of the tenants have been staying here for long time.
