The balcony floor was moldy and I feared that I would go through it if I stepped on it. The floor of the apartment and apartments, in general, was/were extremely noisy. I could hear my neighbors' steps as if they had been in my apartment while they were in theirs, literally. The walls were so thin that I could understand what the neighbors were talking about, everyday.
The balcony door was not working well and would get locked for no reason once when I was outside. Had to call the landlord on my cell phone so that he'd come open the door so that I could get out of the balcony. Even though I proved him that this incident was not my own fault, he was rude and insulting. The elevator did not work for 8 months of my 24-months stay, my apartment was on the top floor. 2/3 of the apartments on my floor got burglared. If you rent a flat in this building, DO INVEST in an alarm system. The landlord won't be pleased that you did that and write you "thanks for the confidence", but using such a device rigorously is the only thing that will keep the burglars out. Strangely, the burglars seemed to know which flat had an alarm system and which one did not. Were they connected in any way to the maintenance employees?
On the day you visit the apartment and building before signing the deal, the garden in front of the building is sooo well maintained (the landlord will show off with the lawn mower to pretend he gets involved) and the common parts of the building smell of detergent and are clean. During "regular days" this cleanliness and careful gardening will be things of the past!
On the day I was supposed to move in, the apartment was NOT ready even if the landlord had told me a month earlier that it would be ready SEVERAL DAYS IN ADVANCE of the official rent start date, July 1st. He REFUSED to hand me the keys, saying that he was expected at a dinner party and not available himself anyway. Totally unprofessional. I had to temporarily store my belongings elsewhere, some at a friend's place, some in another flat of the same building. I was only allowed to actually get the keys for my apartment three days later...
The neighborhood itself is not that friendly at all. The garden in the middle of the plaza is poorly maintained, no kids dare play there, and street gangs gather there to make their drug deals. People are scared of talking to strangers in the streets. Physical aggressions and even murders occur in the shopping mall nearby.

When we first moved, the apartment looked clean, light and it was renovated. But our apartment was infested with mice and we started to notice it few months later after we moved. We called the owner and he started accusing us because we warned him too late (2 weeks later, after we caught one after he came back from his vacation) and there were few crumbs on the ground. He acted as if he never had this kind of problem in the past, but ironically, he told us that he had mice's poison and all the necessary equipment already in hand! Other apartments (with new tenant) were affected with mice and he accuses us instead of himself because he never fumigated the apartment, despite the fact that we told him we killed 6 mice in a few months! Mice can not come in because of crumbs in an apartment, but because of holes inside the building! Our apartment was very clean, but the mice were still coming back, even if we had blocked holes and you could still hear it in the ground and in the walls.
Before signing the lease, the owner told us to call him any time we have a problem. One day, a Wednesday evening, I forgot my keys, so I called the owner so he could open the door, he said he was busy, while he lives very close and the janitor lives in the apartment. I told him : but I can't wait for my room-mate for 4 hours and it's still 5 a clock ! He told me: you're not going to wait near the door like an idiot and you can wait after him outside. Even if it was raining HAIL outside, I left. But 30 minutes later, he called to tell me that the janitor can open the door for me. He never apologized for calling me an idiot and asking me to leave for no reason.
The owner raises the rent constantly for nothing while the apartment around are cheaper.
The only advantage is that it's near stores and it's renovated.
