The landlord at this apartment was difficult to work with from the beginning. We were three students so we did not have a lot of money for repairs, but were told everything would be taken care of by the time we moved in. When we arrived, our front door was broken off the top hinges, and remained that way throughout the year. The closet doors were broken, there were exposed wires everywhere. He had told us that we had to keep the dryer in the kitchen next to the stove, and that we'd have to share an outlet for both appliances. However, we found out that if we had done that we could have started a fire! Thankfully our roommate had a father that was an electrician, so we fixed the washer and dryer ourselves, at our own expense while the landlord watched on!
My first night in the apartment I was by myself and the landlord had come up to ask if he could stay in the apartment with me! I said no, and kept my distance. Later on in the year I fell behind in my rent by no more than a month. The landlord came up to the apartment one day and asked if we could "work out a deal"! It left me feeling very unsafe in my own apartment and I would not want any other young woman/student have to put up with this! Do not rent from this landlord.
