The landlady hasn’t been great at communicating when it comes to repairs and warning us when she sends over contractors, which can be a little unsettling when you have strangers claiming to be there for repairs but didn’t get a heads up. However more importantly, it shows she DOES actually get repairs done, in a timely manner. She also always answers her phone within 24 hours which is a lot more than I can say for any previous landlord I’ve had. The hallways/basement area of the building could seriously use a janitor or something if I’m being honest, it’s dusty and the carpets get especially gross.

Also **WHEN I FIRST ARRIVED**, it was clear that the previous tenants of my unit had left the place filthy, but after doing some deep-cleaning and asking her to send over an exterminator for prevention services after seeing a single roach (she pays for prevention plan, I love her for that), I haven’t seen a single insect. As for general appearance of the place, I’m not gonna lie the kitchen appliances/counters are in fairly rough shape / very old, but considering that we’re a bunch of students always on the go who barely cook and have opted for mini fridges in our bedrooms, it hasn’t been an issue at all. Bathroom is perfectly decent. My specific bedroom (can’t speak for my roommates’ bedrooms though) is tiny and has crappy lighting (BRING YOUR OWN LAMPS) plus it doesn’t get much sun. But beyond that it’s noise/heat insulated, the door has a lock, and it’s a perfectly functional space now that I’ve added some shelving.

The building itself is in a perfect area, you’re a 2 minute walk to Sainte-Catherine street, to the metro, or to a mall with a grocery and pharmacy store in it. The whole building only has two washers/dryers in the basement, for around 1.50$ per load per machine, and they’re not ideal sometimes they make a lot of noise or get too full of coins to use. But there’s also a laundromat on Chomedey closeby that I go to on rare occasions the in-building facilities aren’t available. Anyway if I were to rate overall it would be a solid 7/10, especially for the price, and I would recommend it to students.
