I've been here for 6 years now, and I'm going to move out because the conditions deteriorated so much that it's hard to live there anymore.
1) Noise:
Basically the problem is that it had become very noisy on all floor, so much that the police came twice for two different apartment in the last 4 months. The main problem is that there's no screening of prospect tenants nor are they made clear that you cannot host a party of 50 people in the hallway on a Monday night at 3am.
The building are made of tenants of all horizon, and unless they are clears rules, you can expect sleepless night and police showing up on a regular basis.

2) Fire hazard
The fire alarm has gone off three time in 6 months, everybody has to leave the premises, and there's nobody or superintendent on site, since there's only one inside exit, if there's ever a live fire, you can expect the worst, and most people in the building are still struggling with French or English, so instruction evacuation are not clear either to them.
Beside that, there's a lot of fire hazard, such as the electrical heater who seems pretty old and therefore prone to short circuit.

3) Laundry room
It's expensive, and the machines don't always work, since it's always busy, so you have to do your laundry late at night, because in the last two years a lot of families have moved in the building and they used the laundry room nearly full time.

4) Payment
Super inconvenient. Since the owners only take cash or check, no automatic payment or electronic payment. You have to drop a check once a month like it's 1950 all over again.

Overall I would not advise moving there at all because of night noise, neighbor who don't care about your sleep, the smell of exotic food that reek the place everytime you walk in the hallway, firehasard, and poor location as there's no shops or corner store within 15mn, not to mention that there's literally nowhere to park your car.
Do yourself a favour and look somewhere else.

Vu la situation géographique un loyer raisonnable. Logement propre et bon environnement (à dix minutes à pied du centre-ville et de la montagne Mont-Royal)
fenêtres qui gèlent l''hiver, pas très pratique pour aérer
